Surprised the “purpose” word didn’t sneak in there at the end. A defined purpose surely identifies a set of behaviours consistent with the brand. Patagonia won’t ruin the earth. Ben & Jerry’s refuse to include GMF as an ingredient. Can’t Purpose and Values help codify your brand promise? Cracking read as always.

Not a lot to quibble about and great advice about brand building. I might push back a tiny bit on brand being about character — that feels a little skin deep — but you clearly understand the tradecraft. I’m going to think about the word “promise” when I post tomorrow. Promise vs. claim (my word). Thanks for the savvy share.
